Don’t Let Your About Page Be A Dead End - Part 5 of 5

search seo website Jul 17, 2026

I once clicked an About page that was actually pretty good:

  • Clear on who they helped
  • Clear on what they did
  • A relatable story

Then I got to the bottom of the page and… nothing.

No link. No “Work with me.” No next step.

I had to go hunt through the menu to figure out how to actually hire them.

Most visitors won’t bother. They just close the tab.

Your About page should lead somewhere

Your About page doesn’t need to be pushy or salesy. But it should guide people to a logical next step.

Ask yourself:

  • What’s the best next step for a new visitor who feels “this is for me”?
    • Read about your main service?
    • Book a discovery call?
    • Check out your starter offer?

Then add a short section at the end of your About page that points them there.

For example:

"Ready to take the next step?
If you’re a new or early‑stage online entrepreneur who wants to be findable by the people already searching for help, the best place to start is [your main offer or next step]. It’s designed to give you clarity on what you do, who you do it for, and how to get your website working for you instead of sitting there quietly."

And then link directly to:

  • Your main service page, or
  • Your “Work with me” page, or
  • A clear starter offer

This helps your visitors and also helps search engines understand how your pages relate to each other.

Recap: Turning your About page into an asset

Across this series, you’ve seen how to:

  • Treat your About page like a key page, not an afterthought
  • Rewrite your first line so people “get” you fast
  • Use your clients’ words to improve connection and search
  • Clarify who you work with
  • Connect your About page to a next step

Taken together, these changes help both humans and search engines understand who you are, what you do, and who you’re for.
