Welcome to the SEO Day Podcast Studio. I'm Kim White, and I am joined by the lovely Denise Millet, the Findability Queen herself. We're excited to share with y'all this month's episodes will all be about using AI for your SEO. Those are lots of [00:01:00] letters there, but AI for SEO. AI as an assistant can make your content clearer, stronger, and easier for the right people to find.
AI can feel overwhelming, let me tell you, that's how I felt about it before Denise came into my life, but it does not have to be complicated. We'll answer questions about ways to use it with more confidence, help you save time, and keep your content sounding like you. Let's get started with the first question.
Love this question. Do podcasts and blogs help with SEO, and do I need to create both? Yes. In my opinion, having both is helpful for your SEO. Blogs and podcasts are incredibly helpful and useful content for people. I would recommend you create one and [00:02:00] repurpose it into the other. So you either have podcast episodes that you turn into blog posts or vice versa to save time and effort.
But they're a way to get ideas that may not be on your main website out there and speak to the actual questions people have, which is very useful. So the way you do it is you start with a transcript or a detailed notes from your episode or your blog post, and then ask AI to identify the main idea, the key things that you would take away from it as a reader or listener, and then any, stories or practical lessons that you included.
And then you have it turn it into a blog post structure or an, a script for a podcast episode with strong introduction, and then you use helpful headings that respond to things people might actually use, like your keywords, and a [00:03:00] conclusion that gives readers a next step or have it give you a script or bullet points to record as podcast.
And also ask for show notes, because that's something that it can do with all the information that you just gave it. And then before publishing either one or using either one, revise that draft so it keeps your voice. Because again, as we've talked about before, you want to give it ahead of time things that describe your voice, but you're always the final check.
And your examples and the original point of the conversation, make sure they all meld together, 'cause sometimes AI can go on its own merry way with some of its thoughts. You want to keep that main idea to match what someone's looking for out there in search if you want to get the bang for the SEO, basically.
And remember, AI is a great tool when used properly. It is not a human. So sometimes they do get off track, and when they [00:04:00] do, you've got to, kind of put them back in the corral. "Okay, no, that's not where we're going." So that way you stay on track with your message. I think this is great advice, Denise.
So question number two: How can AI help me turn one piece of content into multiple SEO assets? Similar to what we just talked about with podcasts and blogs changing one to the other, AI can help you take one strong piece of content and reshape it into many different useful formats as long as you ask it the right-- in the right fashion, okay?
So let's talk about this in reality. If you have a blog post or a podcast episode about a topic, you don't want an email and this and this to all have the same exact stuff in it, right? You don't want to just convert the text over to the other. [00:05:00] You want it to be a different bend or a different way to word it.
You have to ask for that. You have to tell it that you can make it a blog post or an email, a warm email, or captions for your social media, pull out questions from my FAQ section on my website, your freq-frequently asked questions, show notes or a short video outline. So all those things you can do.
You ask it to pull out the main ideas, whatever audience questions you might be answering, whatever quotable lines might be there, practical tips, and then adapt each one for each purpose. So you can take the original piece, ask for those things, and then repeat them and say, "Okay, give me a social media caption using this idea.
Give me an email talking about this one in more depth." So you keep the main idea of what you were talking about, but you shave it down to littler pieces for smaller [00:06:00] things, or you turn it over into a new way of talking about it. So you're keeping the message consistent while making each version feel like it's on its own, like it was an individual piece and it wasn't just a repeat from another format.
Love it. Repurpose, don't repeat, is that what I heard? Absolutely. So question number three is, can I use AI to improve blog posts I've already written? And I'm leaning in to hear this answer, Denise, because we have many blog posts we need to go back and reevaluate. Yes is the answer. Absolutely yes. And let's talk just briefly about why that's helpful for you.
search engines value fresh content. That's the word they use is fresh, and that is current content. And when you edit a blog post, it changes the last date you updated it to make it a current piece for [00:07:00] a search engine to reread. So if you have a post and there's things in your mind that you could do, add onto it or expand it into to make it more up to date or to give it more power behind it, that's a candidateto do this with.
So you have AI review the existing blog post and give it suggestions where it could be clearer, where examples would help, what questions are left unanswered, and how the structure could be easier to follow, like headings or subheadings then make the edits yourself, so the post becomes more useful while still sounding like you.
That doesn't mean you can't ask it for a bulleted list of some of these things, or reword this, or give me more powerful language or something like that. But try to include yourself in it so it still has your voice in it as much as possible, and do the final review yourself. [00:08:00] Don't replace, don't change the title or anything about it that way.
This is behind the scenes. The date will change. And just give it a fresh version. I love this advice. I will be applying it, Denise, my own self. So this episode is sponsored by the Momentum Builders Circle, where entrepreneurs get the structure, support, accountability, and smart business strategy they need to turn their ideas into consistent action and real results in just seven weeks.
Come experience true momentum inside the circle. The link is in the show notes. We'll head back into the questions. Question number four: Can AI help me create different content types clustered around a main topic? Absolutely. [00:09:00] Why is this important? Let's answer that first. So yes, AI can help you do that, but let's understand why search engines value people that are somewhat of an authority on a topic.
So you're more valuable to a search engine with more things about a certain topic than you are with just one single thing. Now, the value of what you create in those things is important and will make more of the decision, but having multiple pieces around a topic makes you someone who seems like more.
You still have to prove it in what you put in it, but that's why you want to have things surrounding a topic more than one piece. So AI can help you choose the main topic by asking it to suggest some based on who your people are and all those things you tell it about yourself in the beginning. then you can ask it to break [00:10:00] it into related questions or subtopics, examples or, lessons learned, or things your audience would care about and might ask about.
So this isn't a substitute for what you think you want to talk about ever, because we all have things that we believe are part of what we do that we want to share. But AI is the gift that tells you the things you haven't thought about yet, that can makes connections that we don't always have in our experience, that can expand that, that base and give you, here's five ways to make this happen.
Well, here's a couple of things you don't want to do to get to X, Y, Z. You know? So there are ways to look at things that are differently and different topics you may not have thought about. So it's very helpful to get AI's view from there, and then you turn it into a series, a blog post, or [00:11:00] emails that cluster around it so that they all get to link to each other on your website too, if they're blog posts or podcast episodes.
And that helps the search engine read them all and say, "Oh, they really do know what they're talking about." I love it. So Denise really does know what she's talking about, so I'm gonna challenge you listening, go mark on your calendar every Tuesday to join us for SEO Day podcast because implement these things.
Don't just listen. Go put them into practice so that you get the results that Denise helps us get. So coming, coming off my, my little soapbox, Denise, question number five: how do I use AI to create a content plan around my expertise? Mm. Okay. So we just talked about a main idea, right? You can have multiple main ideas.
You can have multiple themes, we'll call them, that relate to your [00:12:00] business. They may not be the things that you have on your service page. They may not be everything on your About page. you talk about them, but it may not be the specifics. So you start with AI by telling it what you know, who you help, and the problems your audience is trying to solve that you know of Ask it to take that and give you additional themes or topic groups that you could use.
And then with each one, you want the, again, the questions that somebody might ask about those topics or themes. And then within each one, you could say, "Well, I want to write a blog post, podcast episode, I'm gonna do a YouTube video and social media for this question or this topic." And it'll give you titles that fit each one of those types of things, so you don't have to [00:13:00] struggle to find the different words to describe the same thing, which is what the hard part is of all this.
And then it can help you draft the outlines or the verbiage for it. So it's similar to having clusters around a, a topic. You can have multiple clusters of things that all link together that speak to your main purpose in your business or your main idea that you have or who you are. But again, it all helps you the most if you prompt the AI with things about yourself first so that it knows what to corral itself around.
Because as Kim said, they could get away from you sometimes. They could go down a path that you weren't thinking of, and sometimes that's wonderful because it tells you something you didn't think of, but it's also a rabbit hole. So sometimes you have to say, "No, I would like-- I would rather have X, Y, and Z," to keep it focused.
[00:14:00] And keep the program focused to give you what you need. Because it has such a reservoir of information, you want to make sure you narrow it down as much as possible. Great answer, Denise Millet. I will just tell you, I am very happy to be hearing all these answers so that I can personally go implement things too.
So you, sweet listener, we're on the same trip. We're following Denise on this adventure so that we can get better results.
