Hey Kim, thank you so much for being here with me today.

I love it. Denise, let me pull up the first one from the mailbag. Oh, this one is from Cat Corchado. She is the founder of small space Pilates. She has a community that this meets them, where they are in a comfortable space at home, and she's also the host of the sisters in service podcast. Her question is, do I need
1:03
keywords for my podcast? Yes. Cat, yes. Everyone needs to think about keywords for their podcast. And you know, obviously a podcast is very in depth content. You're thinking about topics and what's important for your business and what you want to share. But if you want your podcast to be found in search engines, you need to think about what the words are that your people are going to use to look for the information you're talking about, and include those words. That's what keywords are. They're the connectors. So, you want to have them in the important spot so that you make those connections with people and your content.
1:47
So, Cat also asked, should I expect to see my podcast episodes in search engine?
1:57
Most pod platforms that you put your podcast on are not searched at the individual episode level, so those episodes don't always get into search individually. However, your website or the place that you host your podcast, people are going to go there, and they're going to search on that platform for you and for their podcast. So, it's important that you still use the keywords, but you might not see the episodes in search unless you create a page for each episode on your website, which is one of the hacks to get your episodes into search engines individually, is to actually have a separate page for each one and then it becomes something that they read on a regular basis. Does that make sense? Yes. Ma'am, thank you. Denise so Cat s, last question from this letter is, should I expect to see my Oh, my goodness, I just messed up the letter, I am so sorry. It's okay. So, I think she was asking, Where do keywords go for the podcast episode? I think if I read that email right, I think she wanted to know that. So just like for a page or any other piece of content, the important things are your title, your description and like the main headline or the biggest, boldest thing you're going to put on it. For a podcast, if you put it on a website page, you're going to have a headline that would be a place to have your keywords, and then the title and the description of that because they actually come up in the search engine as the things that people click on. It's very important to have your keywords there.
3:49
Thank you, Denise, and sorry about that little faux pas. So many questions it's hard to keep track. I know, right. Let's head over to a word from our sponsor today

Thank you, Denise and I have another letter from the mailbag, and it is from the famous Adam Rothenberg. Adam interviews people in the entertainment industry and shares those interviews on his entertainment platform. CallMeAdam.com he also has a podcast that he hosts called Baring It All with Call me Adam. How does search know what a podcast episode is about? Is his first question.
4:57 And I think he's probably saying like, well, it's audio, right? So how do they know? Well, just like you can generate captions for things now and videos, they do that stuff when they encounter audio and video on a web page, so they know what the kind of transcript is. But you can always add transcript to an audio or video piece on your website, page for your episodes. So if you want your episodes individually in search, create a page for each episode. Make sure you have the transcript there or a good synopsis of what your show notes would be on the podcast platform. Put it on the page and they will then read that content. So otherwise, they don't normally go into the pod platforms and read each episode. So you really have to control that on your side.

Well, I want to say really quickly, SEO day is about a space for you listening to create time to do these things like Denise was just talking about. So make this Tuesday an activity for SEO, things that you can do yourself. Denise, I think that's a brilliant answer of what you told Adam. Adam has one last question for today, and he asked our podcast with video better than just audio.
6:28
You know, this is a really interesting, multifaceted thing, so let's talk it out. There are people that listen, there are people that view, there are people that read. So depending on who your people are, you have to decide what you deliver to them. And some people really like to watch things. They like to watch video more than they like to listen. Then there are so many people that just have the podcast playing in the background, and that's what they want. So you need to know your people. That's the first point. Then, how do people find podcasts? A large percentage of people, and please don't quote me on the exact number, but I want to say almost 25% of people find new podcasts on search engines, right? So you want to make sure that you get your things findable in search engines. And guess what? YouTube is owned by the major search engine, and that's video, right. So do you have a whole podcast in video, or do you just do clips? Or do you do social media to point to it? All those things are strategies you have to decide. So I can't be there's no definitive ones better than the other. But podcasting is wonderful because it's out there forever, similar to like when you get something in a search engine, it stays there forever when you create a podcast episode and you put it into a search engine at the episode kind of level, when you get that in there, that's a reference back to you. So whether it's video or audio or a page, use it as content that's going to draw people to you for the long term, as opposed to social media that rolls by in a day, you know, and the image might end up in search, but, but not necessarily that much content that people are going to be looking for. So what did you think of that answer? I think it's brilliant. Denise, and I think that whenever you have, whenever you have choices, you have to consider you as a human what is the most consistent thing you can do? I know you talk about this all the time, Denise, and that's my little quote from Denise Millet. I'll just say that I have learned things from Denise. All from the day I met you, Denise, I have learned things. So there you go. There you go. Thank you for answering these questions, Denise, and we're closing the mailbag for today, but we'll jump back in next week.
